Antionette “Nettie” V. Kelly, 100, of Lonaconing, MD passed away at Egle Nursing Home on March 20, 2021.  Born in Vale Summit on June 17, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Anton and Theresija (Likar) Urbas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by he husband, William Kelly Sr. in 1977 and her son, William Kelly Jr. in 2018.  The middle child of thirteen children, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Anton, Frank, John and William Urbas and seven sisters, Anne Stakem, Rose McGowan Stakem, Mary Patterson McKenzie, Jane Michaels, Helen Hardesty, Margaret “Margie” Arnold and Dorothy Warnick.

She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Jeanne Kelly of Manchester, MD; two grandchildren, Michael Kelly of Glen Rock, Pa and Kristine Kelly of Reisterstown, MD; one sister, Elizabeth “Libby” McKinley of Fairplay, MD and many nieces and nephews and family friends.  This great lady will be missed by all.  She is also survived by devoted Jim Ritchie and wife Annette and Sam Hartman who were like sons to her.

Nettie, along with her husband were owner/operators of the Brady Hotel and Kelly Bar since 1955.  Nettie prepared many, many special meals, preparing up to 100 meals every Saturday, preparing up to age 94.  She was especially known for her delicious roast beef dinners and crabcakes.  Nettie loved all of her family and her community.  She gave 34 years of service to the Allegany County Board of Elections.  She was devoted to her community always helping anyone in need.  She hosted many Valley High School reunions, New Year’s and Superbowl parties and Queen City Striders and Classy Chassis meetings.  Get-togethers at Kelly’s Bar were fun-filled and Nettie always made sure that others got enough to eat, etc.  If you were a stranger, she was sure to know all about you before you left her establishment.  She was certainly a “people person”.  A devoted Catholic, she belonged to the former St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lonaconing.

A special “Thank You” to Egle Nursing Home for the devoted care provided over the past years.  Also a special “Thank You” to Sheriff Craig Robertson and the Town of Lonaconing for the celebration parade held June 17, 2020 for Nettie’s 100th birthday.  The dedication of Sam Hartman and Jim Ritchie to Nettie was always so appreciated.

Family and friends will be received at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home P.A., Lonaconing on Sunday, March 28, 2021 from 2:00PM-4:00PM and 6:00PM-8:00PM.  Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 11:00AM with Rev.
