Alice Leona Houdersheldt, 78, formerly of Lana Lu Apts., Lonaconing died September 16, 2011 at Frostburg Village Nursing Home. Born on February 16, 1933 in Midland she was daughter of the late Clarence Leonard Dye and Helen Theresa (Smith) Dye-Stirk. 
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Merrill Houdersheldt in 1993.  
Alice was a former employee of Washington -Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, Washington D.C. She was a member of Lonaconing First United Methodist Church and the Senior Citizens of Georges Creek.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Marie Houdersheldt of Lorton, VA; two grandchildren, Jason Merrill Houdersheldt and Jessica Megan Houdersheldt; three great-grandchildren, Javaunte Lee, Joshua Merrill and Jordan Jalyn; one great-great grandson, Javaunte Lee, Jr.; two sisters, Helen Francis Crowe of Knapps Meadow and Mary Catherine Davis of Frostburg; numerous nieces and nephews and her special friends of Lana Lu apartments.
Family and friends will be received at Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing ( on Monday, September 19, 2011 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Thomas Morgan officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. View Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
The family suggest that memorial donations be made to the Lonaconing First United Methodist Church at 14 Church Street, Lonaconing, MD 21539. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
A special thank you is extended to the WMHS Home Hospice and Frostburg Village Nursing Home from the family for the excellent care provided to Alice.
