Sarah Lee (Stotler) Troutman, 84, of Apollo Ave, Cumberland  passed away on January 26, 2011 at home surrounded by family and friends. Born on Dec. 5, 1926, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Bruce Stotler and Magdaline (Denison)  Stotler.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Troutman, and a brother, James Stotler.
 
Sarah graduated from Frostburg State Teacher’s College and taught at Cresaptown, East Side and Westside schools in Allegany County. She retired after 34 years of service and continued to volunteer at Georges Creek and Northeast Elementary Schools. She was an active member of St. Matthews United Church of Christ, serving as treasurer for many years.
 
After her retirement, she loved spending time with family and friends. Wherever she went her former students were there to greet her.
 
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
 
She is survived be her three children, daughter Jane Sloan and husband Wayne of Clearville, Pa., son John Troutman and wife Alberta of Gloucester, Va. and daughter Mary Guthrie and husband Frederick of Cumberland. In addition, she is survived by six grandchildren, Bernadette Thomas, Stephany Primrose, Mindi Graham, Jennifer Guthrie, Zachery Troutman and  Kate Guthrie; eight great-grandchildren, Madeline and Maxwell Thomas, Jacob Primrose, Jesse, John, Emma, and Rachael Graham, Taylor Guthrie; her sister, Mildred, and her husband, Rev. Donald Llewellyn, of Crownsville, Md, ; nieces and nephews and her faithful canine companion, Stitch.
 
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Prosperity United Methodist Church, Flintstone. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating. Inurnment will be at the Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone.  Arrangements by Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Midland (www.eichhornmckenzie.com).
 
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Western Maryland Health System Hospice team and to her dedicated care givers for their excellent care and compassion.
