Gary Hunter Majors, 88, of Frostburg went to be with his Lord Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born on December 12, 1928 in Washington DC he was the son of the late Leslie and Dorothy (Williams) Majors. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Ray.

He graduated from McKinley High in Washington DC, afterwards attended Central Bible Institute in Springfield MO, and State Teachers College in Frostburg MD. He received his Business Administration Degree while working and attending night classes at George Washington University, and his Masters Degree in Foreign Affairs & International Relations at the Naval War College in Newport RI.

As a young man on fire for the Lord he played the piano and cornet and sang at numerous Assembly of God churches, weddings and camp meetings, where he met the love of his life and married her.  He preached in sign language to the deaf in Winchester VA, pastored an Assembly of God church in Romney and in Kirby WV. He also assistant pastored at Calvary Gospel Assembly of God in Georgetown MD for two years. He then went on to raise his family and to start a lifelong career in the Federal Government, retiring as Division Chief of the Defense Supply Agency.

His hobbies while working full time, were building houses from the ground up, and finishing and restoring older homes. He was a man of integrity, a man of his word, a faithful man who loved God and his family, worked hard all his life, was very intelligent, witty, and strong in body and faith; a man greatly to be admired, who will be so greatly missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife and faithful partner of 65 years Marian (Ross) Majors; three children, Gary R Majors, Virginia Beach VA, Paul D Majors and wife Marie, Frederick MD, and daughter Karen L. Majors, Frostburg MD; one grandchild, Melissa Jenkins and her husband Phillip, two great-grandchildren, Corbin and Noah Jenkins, and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home P.A., Midland, MD on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from noon-2:00PM. A funeral service will follow with his nephew Rev. George Loar officiating. He will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland at a later date.
