Harry Ross Smith, Jr., 79, of New Georges Creek Road, Barton went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born on February 12, 1939 in Barton he was the son of the late Harry Ross Smith, Sr. and May Lorraine (Michaels) Smith.


He was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Smith and brother, Robert Dale Smith.


Harry was a veteran of U.S. Army serving in the Military Police. He attended Valley High School and retired from the Buffalo Coal Company after 30 plus years of service.He was a lifetime member of the Barton American Legion Post #189.


He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary Lorraine Smith; two sons, Eddie Smith and wife Jennifer and Ernie Smith and wife Lynn all of Keyser, WV; three grandchildren, Sarah, Erin and Ryan Smith; three brothers, Benjamin Smith and wife Mary of Fountain, WV, Harold Smith and wife Margaret of Barton and Ronnie Smith and wife Kathy of Topeka, KS and numerous nieces and nephews.


Family and friends will be received on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing.Barton American Legion Post #189 will hold a memorial service at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating. Interment will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Avilton. Military Rites will be accorded by Farrady Post #24 American Legion, Frostburg.


Pallbearers will be Eddie Smith, Troxell Warnick, Ellis Warnick, Jr., William Gray, Ryan Smith and Bob Foote, Sr..

Dear Mary,
I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of Hary. It was a pleasure caring for such a dear person. I pray the lord gives you peace during your time of sorrow. I will miss Harry. God bless you and your family.
