O. N. “Butch” Haggard Jr., 73, of Main Street, Lonaconing died Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born on November 23, 1944 in Kentucky he was the son of the late Ova Nelson Haggard Sr. and Lillian Lucille (Dixon) Haggard.

Butch was veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and a member of the Forty and Eight. A 1963 graduate of Valley High School he worked for the State of Maryland Veterans Commission. He was a lifetime member of the Barton American Legion Post #189 where he was Past Commander. He was also Past Department Commander of the American Legion for the State of Maryland.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years Barbara Haggard; one son Jeffrey Haggard and wife Lisa of LaVale; a sister Roxanne Franchi; brother-in-law William Hadley and wife Melissa and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 11 AM - 1 PM at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. Barton American Legion Post #189 will hold a memorial service at 1:00 PM. Interment will be held at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone. Military Rites will be accorded by Combined Honor Guard Post#13, Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Butch’s memory to the Barton American Legion Post #189 at 19008 Legion Road, Barton, MD 21521.

Sorry to hear of the passing of a friend, Butch will be missed by all who knew him. I'm sure there will be a void in your lives but just remember the good times.
