Music by The Piano Brothers

Marie J. Fairgrieve, 94, of Skyline Drive, Moscow passed away peacefully on June 8, 2019 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. Marie was a resident of Egle Nursing Home for the last five years.

Born on November 29, 1924 in Moscow, she was the daughter of the late Albert Broadwater and Gertrude (O’Haver) Broadwater.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years Dwaine “Dick” Fairgrieve, one son Paul H. Fairgrieve, granddaughter Lisa Fairgrieve, son-in-law James Dye Sr., daughter-in-law Pamela Fairgrieve, two sisters and two brothers.

Marie was a former employee of the Celanese, where she retired after 25 years.

She is survived by three sons William Fairgrieve and wife Jean of Moscow, Richard Fairgrieve and wife Charlotte of VA and Steven Fairgrieve and companion Betty Brown of Cumberland; three daughters Peggy Dye of Moscow, Kaye Harr and husband Curtis of South Dakota and Diana Johnson and husband Paul of Barton; daughter-in-law Susan Fairgrieve; seventeen grandchildren Melissa Banner, Shelly Stowell, Michelle Herrell, Terri Burch, Richard Fairgrieve Jr., James Dye Jr., William Fairgrieve Jr., Renee Taylor, Kim Llewellyn, Erica Cochrum, Paul Johnson III, Tiffany Droll, Felicia Fairgrieve, Paula Fairgrieve, Joshua Harr, Christopher Harr, Darla Pursley; 35 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister.

Our mom was an exceptional mother; she would give you the shirt off of her back. She was a great cook and baker; she could have cooked a shoe and made it taste good. She would do anything asked of her. She babysat not only her grandchildren but many of her great grandchildren. She was extremely loved by all of her family and will be greatly missed.

At her request she will be cremated and a private combined memorial service will held for Marie and her husband Dick. Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing is handling the arrangements.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center 7 South for the excellent care they gave our mother and the compassion showed to our family. Also a special thanks to Egle Nursing Home for all the love and care she received from the staff.

“A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take.”
