John Joseph “Joe” Borgman, 89, of Florida Way, Lonaconing died Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing. Born on February 20, 1932 in Cumberland he was the son of the late Walter A. Borgman and Mary Rita (O’Rourke) Borgman.

Joe was a 1950 graduate of Central High School. A veteran of the U.S. Army he served during the Korean War. He worked at Tack Fast, PPG Industries and lastly, he assisted at Eicchorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. He was a devoted Catholic, taking great pride in being asked to take up the collection at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. He was given the Archdiocesan Medal of Honor for his service through the church.

He was survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Sara (McPartland) Borgman; two children, Patrick Borgman and companion Chyrl Ness of Hockessin, DE and Molly Shearer and husband Brian of Hagerstown, MD; three grandchildren, Alex Shearer of Lake Placid, NY, Madeline Shearer of Baltimore, MD and Emma Shearer of Hagerstown, MD.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Midland on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM, Father Ed Hendricks will be officiating.Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone, MD. Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Joe to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 19925 Church St., Midland, MD 21532.
