Music by The Piano Brothers

Harold Leroy Nicol, 84 of Front Street, Lonaconing, died Saturday, May 15, 2021 at his residence with his family at his side. Born on January 13,1937, he was the son of the late William Nicol and Edna Leora (McKenzie) Nicol.

Harold attended Valley High School, Lonaconing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, having over 28 years of service to his country. He was a hardworking man, having held many jobs throughout his lifetime; PPG, Lonaconing Town Cop, and finally retiring from Sacred Heart Hospital after 22 and half years of service as a security guard. All the while he owned and operated Nicol’s Garage. In his spare time Harold loved to play music; he played the guitar with son Wayne on the drums. Harold started a few local bands including The Sundowner’s, Back Street and 40 West. He also enjoyed just picking up his guitar and playing along with others. He was a member of the George’s Creek Ambulance Service and the Lion’s Club. Harold’s heart was music and he never met a stranger; a loving family man, who made many friendships over his lifetime. He has touched the lives of too many to mention.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen Darlene (Airhart) Nicol; four sons, Harold Michael Nicol, Richard Nicol Sr. and wife Lisa; Steven Mark Nicol and Wayne Joseph Nicol; 13 grandchildren, Angie Robertson, Chris Robertson and wife Megan, Richard Nicol Jr and wife Starr, Shelley Nicol and fiancé Tim, Steven Hatfield, Bryan Nicol, Amber Haines and husband Brandon, Janaye Nicol, Michael Nicol, Mindi Nicol, Joshua Nicol, Mark Nicol and Christopher Nicol; 11 great-grandchildren, Draven, Natalie, Chris Jr., Hayden, Hailey, Serena, Tanner, Ava, Bryce, Mason and Tiara and numerous nieces and nephews.
