John (Honus) Muster, 89, passed away July 2, 2015, at Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, where he resided for several years. John was born July 21, 1925 in Lonaconing and lived many years in Cicero, New York and in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Carrie Muster, his brothers, Harold Emch and Logan Muster and his sister, Mary Jo Muster.
John was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was an accomplished drywall finisher by trade. His passion in life was trapshooting and he was a skilled marksman. John was a New York State champion, a Florida senior champion, qualifier for the US Olympic Trapshooting Team and an inductee into the New York State Amateur Trapshooting Association Hall of Fame. He was a life member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association and was inducted in the Lonaconing Hall of Fame. He was a founding member of Bridgeport Rod & Gun Club and owned the former Green Meadows Gun Club both in New York. John was a former member of Skyway Trap and Skeet Club, St. Petersburg and a member of the former Lonaconing Gun Club. He continued to “break 25” into his early 80’s. John belonged to the former Alvin C Neat Post #5280 V.F.W., the Republican Club, the Midland Sportsman’s Club (the Patch) and American Legion Post 189, Barton.
John is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Pat Muster of Flagstaff, Arizona; his daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and George Wilson of Minoa, New York; his granddaughter Mary Muster and great-grandson Joshua Jurischk of Frederick Colorado; his granddaughter Heather Wilson and great-grandson Cameron Lovett of Minoa, New York; his grandson James Wilson of Kirkville, New York and his cousin Carol Ann Burt of Midland. He is also survived by a niece and two nephews.
The family expresses their appreciation to the staff of Egle Nursing Home for the exceptional care given to John. The family gives special thanks to Janet Rennie and the Rennie family for their care and concern of John and the Muster family throughout the years.
Inurnment will be held privately at Frostburg Memorial Park. Donations in John’s memory should be made to any American veterans’ organization.
